Dear Friends,

You are invited to a Fundraiser and Learning Session about the serious problems with the Purple Line, problems that will cause environmental degradation all the way from Bethesda to the Chesapeake Bay for decades.

  • Did you know that the Purple Line is expected to disturb over 200 serious Hazardous Materials Sites on its route? Contractors have been asked to develop Emergency Evacuation Plans in case they lose control of the worst of the hazardous materials.
  • Do you know that officials have not revealed whether any money has been set aside to make sure these materials, which include PCBs, don’t escape into adjacent neighborhoods and streams?
  • Did you know that the stormwater management plan is to dump nearly all the stormwater, untreated, onto backyards, into local streams, into Rock Creek, and on to the Chesapeake Bay?
  • Did you know that even neighbors far uphill from the Purple Line will be assaulted by noises much louder than revealed in the Impact Statement every 3.5 minutes for most hours of the day and night?

These are only some of the most egregious problems with the Purple Line. Come learn the details about these and the other problems that blatantly ignore Federal Laws! Find out about the lawsuit that is the ONLY means by which citizens of Montgomery and Prince George’s County are likely to force the Purple Line to comply with the law … which means the best way to avoid an environmental disaster.
