Bike, run, walk, … enjoy the trail!
The Capital Crescent Trail links the C&O Canal National Park in Georgetown, DC, to Rock Creek and Silver Spring, MD.
From Georgetown to Bethesda the trail is paved with an asphalt surface.
In Bethesda, the trail runs through its dedicated tunnel under Wisconsin Avenue.
From Bethesda to Rock Creek and Lyttonsville, the trail is crushed stone. That section of the trail is also known as the Georgetown Branch Trail. This is the section of the trail that is threatened by the Purple Line.
From Lyttonsville to Silver Spring the Trail is no longer a tree-lined dedicated trail.
Bikers and pedestrians must follow the signs on streets that will take them to downtown Silver Spring.
Capital Share Bikes are available in Elm Street Park in Bethesda next to an entrance to the Trail and at other locations.
